In the Morning: Social Media 101
Ever wanted to ask an editor the burning questions . . . from the comfort of your home . . . while you wore pajamas? Well, you can, with the help of social media. Yes! Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn. Not strange, flash-in-the-pan networks for introverted geeks living in basements. These are powerful tools writers can use to:
In the morning we’ll delve into the power of Twitter and Facebook. We’ll explore the live chats and fan pages where you can meet those elusive editors and learn about who they are and what they’re looking for.
We’ll break for lunch - choose from nearby restaurants
In the Afternoon: Websites and Blogs
Haven’t sold a book yet? Don’t know how this could possibly apply to you? Macy’s didn’t sell the dress then build the store. You need to position yourself, and get ready for that published book. When editors and agents come to our conferences they keep telling us, “We’re searching for you. We want to know you take the writing business seriously.” Give them something to find and prove your professionalism.
